Placing a request for an item will put you into line to receive the desired title as soon as it is available from the library. Any customer who has placed a request before your own will have their request filled first.
Customers also have the option to call their local branch and have library staff place the request for them if they wish.
To begin the process, open your web browser and navigate to http://catalog.dallaslibrary.org; next search for a title that you're interested in checking out.
Click on the place request button to begin placing your hold.
It is necessary to log in to the online catalog in order to place holds. If you are not logged in when you click "Place Request", the system will prompt you to login before proceeding with the hold request.
After successfully logging in, the catalog asks whether you would like to send the item to your default library or another library.
NOTE: If you want to change your default branch, please contact your local library branch or e-mail email@example.com and request a more convenient branch.
Select Submit Request once you have selected the library where you would like to pickup your request.
The final screen is where the system gives you the results of your hold request. At this point you can return to your original search or manage the other items that you have requested for your account.
