They just go to the library.
Ever wonder what the yearbook photos of some famous Dallasites look like? Ever wonder what your mom, dad, aunts or uncles looked like in their yearbook photos? Well, we might be able to help.
Right now, on the 7th floor of the Downtown library, we have an exhibit called, “Hometown Folks: Famous Dallasites.” We’ve got famous Dallasites from singer, Erykah Badu, to well-known businessman and philanthropist, Stanley Marcus, featured in this exhibit. Two of the actors featured are Owen and Luke Wilson. And you can even see rockers Stevie Ray Vaughn and Steve Miller before they rocked the house – or, at least before they were famous for it! And there are many more.
Sadly, unless your family members are famous they probably won’t be featured in this exhibit, but the librarians in the Texas/Dallas History Division on the 7th floor will be happy to help you find their photos, if we own their yearbooks. We even have a few that date back to the 1800s.
Those same librarians would also be happy to accept any yearbooks you’d like to donate to the library. If you’ve got high school or college yearbooks from around the Dallas area gathering dust in your house, bring them to us. We’ll give them an excellent home.
