The Central Library’s Texas/Dallas History& Archives Division has plenty of useful resources for researching the history of your Dallashome. City directories and permit books are a good place to start to find out when your house was built. Other materials such as the Dallas Morning News Historical Archive, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, and Bracey’s Block maps provide further historical context. Although the chance of finding photographs or drawings of specific houses in our collections is somewhat rare, our division has many architectural and photograph collections.
