Does the library have ebooks? If so, which devices can I use to download them?

OverDriveYou can download FREE ebooks, audiobooks, music and videos at the Dallas Public Library if you have a library card.  Nook, Kindle, iPhone/iPod/iPad, and Android devices are all supported by our OverDrive Service.  Take a look at OverDrive’s Device Resource Center for an exhaustive list of the devices you can use. This list also specifies the type of files you can check out on your particular device.

OverDrive HelpWhen using OverDrive, click on the image to the left to go to their help pages.  It will ask you the type of material you want to download (ebook, audiobook, music or video) and then which device you are using, so you get help on your specific device.

The Kindle is a little different in they way you download content from OverDrive.  Check out the video below for instructions.  Much of the information included in this video also applies to the Kindle app.

We are adding new materials to our e-content every day!  Happy e-reading!

  1. Joe. Cox says:

I have a texshare card can I download book from dpl?

  2. Even if you have none of the devices such as Nook, Kindle, etc., you can download e-books to your computer using Adobe digital editions. You can read them there and return them when you finish (or wait until the lending period expires).
I download them to ADE and then put them on my Nook, and then alternate between reading on the computer and on the Nook.
