We have curriculum guides available for every age group.
Here are a few specifically for first graders:
- What Your First Grader Needs to Know: Fundamentals of a Good First-Grade Education,
- Everything Your First Grader Needs to Know, and
- Complete Curriculum: Kindergarten-Grade 1.
We also provided a guide for homeschool resources entitled, Homeschooler’s Book of Lists.
Another great resource is the “Homeschool Resources” section of our webpage for parents.
For further resources check the library catalog under these subject headings: Home schooling–United States and Curriculum planning–United States.
This is very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for the recommendation! I was wondering if you’ve had a chance to look over another popular curriculum guide: The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home (Bauer & Wise)? Although I’ve read many enthusiastic comments about this book, I have the impression that the mother/daughter authors believe that the Renaissance was a big mistake, at least in terms of education reform. The Well-Trained Mind seems to offer curricula modeled on methods of teaching developed (apparently rather strictly) during the Middle Ages, including an emphasis on learning Latin and rote learning by young children. It’s fascinating to read, but probably exhausting to put into practice.
