National Coming Out Day

October 11 is National Coming Out Day for the GLBT Community, an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who publicly identify as bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender.  “Coming out” regarding one’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity being akin to a cultural rite of passage for LGBT people.  The Dallas Public Library has an amazing collection of resources related to the Coming Out Process. Dallas Library Pride would like to highlight a few:

    I appreciate very much this site and its awareness, it’s well done and I love all the books as wallpaper backdrop. I have posted it to my FB profile, and am very encouraged that Dallas is bringing this issue to the mainstream. Stepping out of the closet feels good.

    I’m a little late in seeing this post but hats off to the Dallas Public Library for recognizing the struggles of one of the most discriminated against groups of our time, the LGBT community. Dallas truly is an oasis within the Texas desert.
