In the past, researchers had little choice but to use microfilm editions of earlier papers and various microfilm indexes. The library has now added a subscription to a new database, Genealogy Bank, which has a digitized, key word searchable Dallas Weekly Herald, 1855 to 1887 which overlaps perfectly with the digitized Dallas Morning News, 1885-1984. This does not include the Dallas Times Herald but it does expand the ability to search Dallas history remotely from the comfort of your home.
