Wentzscope Exhibit: The Power of Magnification

When: Wednesday, July 01, 2015 - Saturday, December 19, 2015
Where: Arcadia Park Branch Library

Convex lenses are used to magnify images. Examine specimens at different powers of magnification using a hand lens, loupe, and Wentzscope! Exhibit provided by the Science and Engineering Education Center at The University of Texas at Dallas.


ESL Class Registration

When: Saturday, August 29, 2015 - 10:00 AM
Where: Arcadia Park Branch Library (in the Meeting Room A & B)

Register in person and take a placement test for a Friday and Saturday morning ESL class. Two levels are offered: Beginner and Intermediate. Classes include many opportunities for speaking practice.


Junior Robotics: Waste Wise

Children ages 6-9 are invited to join a Jr. FIRST LEGO League team. This program features a real-world scientific concept to be explored through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Teams meet 90 minutes weekly.

FIRST LEGO League Robotics: Trash Trek Challenge

When: Monday, August 31, 2015 - 5:30 PM
Where: Arcadia Park Branch Library (in the Children's Area)

Students ages 9-14 are invited to join a library FIRST LEGO League team to tackle the Trash Trek Challenge. Team members build an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to solve a set of missions. Teams meet weekly for about 90 minutes or more.
