Caribbean Roots with Dulce Parker

This cultural enrichment program with Making Connections explores the Caribbean Islands and the blending of cultures. Participants will experience hands-on, fun learning that includes art, music, & dance. The program takes you through a cultural journey to learn history, geography, customs, and traditions coming from Indigenous (Taino), European and African cultures. The program is part of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs Community Artist Program (CAP).


FIRST LEGO League: Trash Trek Challenge

The Arcadia Park Library robotics team builds and programs a robot for the FIRST LEGO League competition. Registration is closed for this season. Check back in the summer for details about a robotics workshop.

FLL is for students ages 9-14 who are interested in solving real-world problems through a creative engineering process as the team designs, builds, and programs an autonomous robot. Students apply and develop workforce skills such as communication and teamwork.


Afterschool: Financial Literacy for Kids

Jr. FIRST LEGO League

The library Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr. FLL) team meets weekly to work on a project, which they present at the regional Jr. FLL Expo on Saturday, March 28, 2016. Participants learn about simple machines and build a motorized LEGO model while developing teamwork and communication skills. Sponsored in part by DFW TEC and the American Library Association/ Association for Library Service to Children.
