Cemento Grande: An Exhibit by the Dallas Mexican American Historical League

When: Monday, July 14, 2014 - Saturday, August 30, 2014
Where: Arcadia Park Branch Library

Cemento Grande, located near what is today I-30 and Chalk Hill Road, was the company town for workers of the Trinity Portland Cement Company in the early to mid 1900s. This exhibit, produced by the Dallas Mexican American Historical League (DMAHL), shows images of families who lived in the Cemento Grande area.

DMAHL is also looking for residents of Arcadia Park to share their stories and photos for an upcoming exhibit on Arcadia Park. Learn more about DMAHL and their mission to preserve Mexican-American history in Dallas at www.dmahl.org.


Microworld Adventures: Exhibit by the University of Texas at Dallas

When: Thursday, July 10, 2014 - Sunday, November 30, 2014
Where: Arcadia Park Branch Library

What does your skin look like up close? How about your cotton shirt or your hair? Mouth parts of a housefly? This exhibit has both a "scope on a rope" microscope and a high magnification microscope. Come and learn to use them to view prepared specimens as well as other objects of your own choosing and start exploring the microworlds around you. The exhibit is provided by the Science and Engineering Education Center at the University of Texas at Dallas.
