Black History Month Event: Book Discussion (National Book Award Winner)

When: Thursday, February 23, 2017 - 6:00 PM
Where: Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library (in the Lisa Kilolo Todd Auditorium)

This interesting and lively book discussion will be led by Emma Rodgers, the founder of Dallas' oldest black bookstore Black Images Book Bazaar and co-founder of the popular Annual Romance Slam Jam (RSJ), a celebration of the Black Romance Book Industry. The book The Underground Railroad is a bestseller in African American Historical Fiction. "The National Book Award Winner and #1 New York Times bestseller from Colson Whitehead is a magnificent tour de force chronicling a young slave's adventures as she makes a desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South." The author is a Harvard University graduate and recipient of the Whiting Writers' Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a MacArthur Fellowship. You will not want to miss this evening of great discussion for book lovers.
