Join master storyteller Melody Bell to learn the fascinating story of Wangari Maathai, known as "Mama Miti," the Kenyan environmental activist who received the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize. She established the Green Belt Movement, an African grassroots organization that has empowered many people to mobilize and combat deforestation, soil erosion, and environmental degradation. Make your own tree collage to take home.

X-Box 360 Live! Get Your Game On!

Where: Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library (in the Conference Room)

Come and join other youth in a positive and safe week-end "out-of-school time" activity showing off your game skills playing with the X-Box 360. Games on the X-Box 360 not only allow you to exercise your body, but it can also stimulate your mind. These types of activities have been shown to assist youth in performing better in school. The MLK Branch seeks to provide such activities for the children of this community. Kids can relax their minds and bodies on Saturdays while they are out of school on the weekend.
