After School STEM: Balloon Brain

When: Friday, May 27, 2016 - 4:00 PM
Where: Mountain Creek Branch Library (in the Auditorium)

In groups, children try to protect their 'water balloon brain' by using foil, tissue, masking tape, and plastic wrap to create a skull that will prevent the balloon from bursting after being dropped form a certain height.


Pre-school Storytime: Boogie Woogie Books

Join us for interactive stories, music, rhymes, finger plays, crafts, and movement to build pre-reading skills. Every Tuesday at 11:00 am. Intended for children ages 1-5.


Healthy Food, Healthy Families

When: Wednesday, June 01, 2016 - 11:00 AM
Where: Mountain Creek Branch Library (in the Auditorium)

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program is a 7 week series where you learn how to: make healthy meal choices, cook healthy food for your family, get the most for your food dollars, stay safe when preparing food, and stay physically active. Complete at least six sessions and receive a certificate.


Preschool Lab: Magnets

When: Friday, June 03, 2016 - 11:00 AM
Where: Mountain Creek Branch Library (in the Auditorium)

You and your preschool scientist are invited to join us for a special hands-on STEM program about magnets that includes age-appropriate lab activities that are designed to spark your child's curiosity and to strengthen science and critical thinking skills. For ages 3-5 and an adult; registration recommended.

This program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Texas State library and Archives Commission. (2015)


Mayor's Summer Reading Club Kickoff Party

Kick off the start of the Mayor's Summer Reading Club by joining us for this party. There will be face painting, a balloon artist, crafts, and more. The party is free and open to all ages. Plus, this is the perfect time to get registered for the Summer Reading Club and commit to a summer of reading fun.

What kind of foods do various animals eat? Master storyteller Melody Bell will encourage children to act as characters in the story, plus introduce them to various instruments and discuss how they are made from the environment. Kids will also talk about some tricks they may have played on friends or family members.
