The Discovery Wall
Sponsored by Atmos Energy, the Discovery Wall located within the Kahn Pavilion is a 14x14-foot flat screen wall that together with Cisco real-time tele-presence technology will allow the children of Dallas to travel around the globe. This two-way communication will enable Dallas students to interact with people from around the world, including zoos, museums, and more. You can request a Discovery Wall Field Trip here.

About the Children's Center: The creation of the Children's Center within the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is the realization of a dream for the children of Dallas. Completely funded by donations from many generous benefactors, it reflects the Dallas Public Library's commitment to share in the challenge to ensure a nation of literate and informed citizens of tomorrow.

The Center encompasses the best of the traditional, while at the same time focusing on new technologies used in the fields of learning. It was designed to excite the imagination of children and to expand their horizons. An extensive array of books, magazines, audiobooks and DVD’s is available for check out. Specially designed areas for storytelling, puppet shows, and other programs enhance the child's participation in these activities. Exhibit areas accommodate changing displays of interest to children.

Professionally trained librarians and other staff specializing in work with children through the eighth grade are available at all times to provide individual attention to each child seeking assistance.
