Journal Des Dames Et Des Modes. Paris, Volumes 1-3, 1912-1914.

Gift of Dallas Fashion Arts.

With only 1,279 copies of each issue printed, this exclusive French fashion magazine, produced by couturier Paul Poiret, was targeted at the luxury end of the market. The text, which included poetry and fashion notes, paled in comparison to the illustrations, most drawn by well-known fashion illustrators who were influenced by Japanese woodblock prints and the strong colors of Fauves painters. Each of the 183 loose plates is an original print produced by the pochoir (silk-screening using up to thirty stencils for one image) process.
