This collection consist of two main subjects, Katharine Harris' collection of World War One materials, with a specific focus on the Red Cross, and Ms. Harris' materials from her time spent at Oak Cliff High School in 1921. Her parents were very active in the Red Cross movement in Dallas. Her mother, Mrs. W.A.V. Harris, was an authorized member soliciting subscriptions and working in the Bureau of Canteen Services. As a young girl of 13 in 1917, her parent's active participation in relief efforts encouraged Katharine to collect a variety of materials relating to the First World War, from buttons, news clippings, to Red Cross pamphlets and publications. Many of these materials are described by Harris. Also included in the collection is a scrapbook of her senior year at Oak Cliff High in 1921, from which she would graduate as valedictorian.
