Committee on Day Care for Children Records

Biographical Note

During World War II, women were increasingly called to serve for the Defense Program. The Child Welfare Division of the Council of Social Agencies in Dallas formed the The Committee of Day Care for Children to determine the need for childcare centers and to ensure that the children of these women were adequately cared for. Expansion of childcare and nurseries came about through these efforts.

The collection mainly consists of correspondence, minutes, memos, and committee reports. Also included are booklets, pamphlets, leaflets, and other printed materials that cover topics about child welfare and day care programs.
