Biographical NoteClaude L. Fox - Born in Dallas, Texas on January 15, 1921 and graduated from Dal-Tech High School where he graduated in 1939. He worked for Titche-Goettinger as a clerk until he enlisted in the U.S. Army September 1943 when he was initially sent to Camp Wolters Reception Center in Texas. Claude Fox was then sent to Camp Kohler in Sacramento, California; which was then the Army Signal Corps training site. He completed his training at Camp Crowder, Missouri and was then sent to Chicago, Illinois where he received electrical training from AT&T. Claude went on to serve 30 months in the China-Burma-India theatre as a Wire Chief. When he returned from the war, he married Evelyn Virginia Jones of Fort Worth, Texas. He then lived in Fort Worth working as an electrician until he passed away on November 26, 1998. Thomas R. Fox - Graduated from Dal-Tech High School in 1941. Joining the Army in 1943, he was sent to Shepherd Field at Wichita Falls, Texas for basic training and later to Peabody College at Nashville, Tennessee for additional training in the Army Air Corps. Thomas Fox served three years in the Army Air Corps, with one of those years in Guam as a pilot. When he returned to Dallas he finished his Law degree at SMU and married Nelle Burley. Claude B. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe collection consists of letters sent home by Claude and Thomas Fox while in the U.S. Army, personal items belonging to Claude Fox, and various published newspapers and newsletters. Correspondence from Claude Fox covers July 1942 through April 1943 to his family at 4119 Cedar Springs, Dallas Texas. Correspondence from Thomas Fox covers March through April 1943 to 4119 Cedar Springs, Dallas Texas. The newspapers within the collection are newsletters printed within the U.S. for distribution overseas, the Harrisonian, and Newsletters printed by the soldiers overseas in the China - Burma - India Theatre.
