CITIZENS FOR RESPONSIBLE BEVERAGE SALES

During 2004 and 2005, a public group formed with the goal of legalizing alcoholic beverage sales in Oak Cliff. Citizens for Responsible Beverage Sales performed research into the history of alcohol sale prohibitions and the laws governing rule changes. Included in the collection are a telephone poll quiestionnaire, maps showing JP 5 and three sub-districts studied, poll results, and graphs summarizing poll results.

CIVIL WAR BLOCKADE RECEIPT

1863. Receipt documenting the seizure of a British schooner purportedly headed for New Orleans from Veracruz. The ship was seized by a Union vessel 10 miles east of Velasco, Texas. Receipt includes names of passengers, their place of birth and citizenship, luggage and cargo.

Mostly committee reports and correspondence. The effort to expand access to child care and nurseries came about when women were increasingly called to serve during WWII. The Committee on Day Care for Children stemmed from the Child Welfare Division of the Council of Social Agencies of Dallas.
