GREAT AMERICAN SUBURBS RESEARCH MATERIALS

Donated by Virginia McAlester. Research materials for her book "Great American Suburbs: the Homes of the Park Cities, Dallas." Includes photographs of Park Cities houses (printed from digital files), printouts from the Dallas County Appraisal District website, copies of pages from "Brown Books" from University Park (including original building permit, date, name of owner and builder, cost of house, and original photo), Dallas Morning News articles, copies of pages from city directories, spreadsheets of home addresses with information such as architect, style of house, location.

GREATER DALLAS HOUSING OPPORTUNITY CENTER

1968-1977. The Greater Dallas Housing Opportunity Center formed in 1968 to create equal access to affordable and decent housing and end the practice of housing segregation. The GDHOC folded in the late 1970s after funding shortages and the involvement of other groups, such as the League of Women Voters, in fair housing issues. Materials include correspondence, pamphlets, brochures, and minutes.

GREEN, E. H. R., MATERIALS

1910-1930s. Correspondence and other materials relating to the business and personal relationships (in Texas) of Edward H.R. Green. E.H.R. Green was the son of Hetty Green - known as the "witch of Wall Street" and arguably the richest woman in the world before her death in 1916. He spent many years in Texas involved in business and politics before moving out of state around 1910.
