TERRELL, EULALIA E., COLLECTION

1911 - 1963 (Bulk 1930s). 1 linear foot.
Ms. Terrell attended Bishop College in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and taught at James Madison High School and Julia Frazier Elementary School in Dallas. She also played in church choirs and gave piano lessons to local students. Ms. Daisy Clark Jones donated these materials, received from Ms. Terrell shortly before Ms. Terrell's death, on February 29, 1984. The collection contains materials from Eulalia's academic and professional career. The materials include school music programs, church programs, State of Texas Colored Teachers Association annual meeting programs, and a few posters from black churches in Memphis, Tennessee.

TREW HOME FOR THE AGED SCRAPBOOK

1954 - 1960. The Mary E Trew Home for the Aged (playfully called "Rocking Chair Ranch" by some) opened in September 1954. The red brick home in southeast Dallas was donated by Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Trew of Muenster, Texas. The home was operated as a unit of the Buckner Orphans Home and Benevolence Program. The scrapbook contains photos of staff and residents in its first five years as well as newspaper articles pertaining to the home. Obtained by Dr. T Bradfod Willis at an estate sale and donated to DPL in honor of Dorthy Bennett Hutto.
