Oral Histories
An oral history is a personal recollection of important events that is recorded, providing a unique and intimitate perspective by each individual interviewed. The Texas/Dallas History & Archives Division recorded more than 300 oral histories of prominent Dallasites. Some of these histories have been transcribed and can be found in the library's catalog. Some transcripts are also downloadable as a pdf file.
This site provides a list of each oral history interview sorted alphabetically by last name and by the projects from which it was created. A finding guide is also available at the Texas/Dallas History reference desk.
Some audio samples are available on this site. Please contact the Texas/Dallas History librarian if you would like to access full recordings of an interview.
Below are the oral history projects that have been conducted.
